The GED program or General Equivalency Diploma allows students to receive a diploma equivalent to a high school diploma of the United States. CODEDI offers this program in Spanish to all immigrants that were unable to complete high school or those who completed high school in their home countries but need a degree from the United States. A GED can often lead to better employment or a college education.
The program prepares students to take the official GED of the Education Department of the United States.
CODEDI offers a computer program in Spanish to all its members. The purpose of this program is to give all the students an opportunity to incorporate in to the world of technology. Students learn the fundamentals about computer programs such as how to operate the system of Window XP, Microsoft Office program, and how to use the internet. This course is offered twice a year; every individual who pass this course receives a certificate or a diploma from Microsoft that is recognized anywhere in the world.
By offering this program, CODEDI provides help to its members, so that all members can have more opportunity for better employment; and also, it is an advantage for them to be more active in the Latin community.
CODEDI offers a literacy program in Spanish to adult immigrants who do not know how to read and write. Many of these students speak a pre-Columbian language and Spanish is not their first language. This gives people the opportunity to be able to improve in reading and writing in Spanish. Also, this class helps students communicate more fluently in Spanish if it is not their first language. This is a benefit to all CODEDI members and allows them to eventually incorporate into the GED and Computer classes in Spanish.
